Clinical Significance

Valproic acid is a widely used anti-epileptic drug. It is used in the treatment of primary and secondary generalized seizures. Valproic acid has also become increasingly effective in the control of partial seizures. Measurements obtained by this device are used in the diagnosis and treatment of valproic acid overdose and in monitoring levels of valproic acid to ensure appropriate therapy.
